We believe in Graphic Design as a process, rather than an aesthetically obsessed monster. We feel that discussion and contextualisation is the key to successful Graphic Design. We think that ideas take precedence in a visually strangulated world, and that ideas come out of discussion as well as thought. There is need for an engagement in 'critical' and thoughtful graphic design within the design press and design students.

AND is a publication set up by Graphic Design students at University College Falmouth. We focus our efforts on contextualising, design, culture and society. A process which is essential not only to design but a wider understanding of the world, that in turn can then be fed into our design work.

The journal is a platform for design students at the University to express ideas and put forward work. It also features articles from professional designers, and contributions have been included from outside the design field; we believe an escape from the canon of Graphic Design is important.
